Unlocking Content with Remote Access for Samsung Smart TV Owners
What to Know
- First, on the TV, go toSmart Hub >Source >Remote Access >Remote PC >User >Add .
- Next, on the PC, allow remote connections and get the computer’s IP address.
- Enter the PC’s IP address and your username and password into the TV.
This article explains how to link your Samsung smart TV (2019 models and newer) to your PC using Remote Access. These directions are for Windows 11 and Windows 10 users.
How to Connect Your Samsung Smart TV to Your PC Using Remote Access
Samsung’s Remote Access feature lets you wirelessly connect your Windows PCs or laptops to select Samsung smart TVs, even if the PC is in another room. By connecting a keyboard and mouse to the TV (either wired or viaBluetooth ), you can access files, use a desktop browser, play games, and more. Here’s what to do:
- Power on the TV and ensure it’sconnected to your Wi-Fi network .
- Press theHome button on the remote control to launch the Smart Hub.
- A series of icons for inputs, content, and more appear. At the bottom, you’ll see a variety of settings in a separate bar. Using the remote control, navigate to the bottom bar, scroll, and selectSource .
- Above the bottom bar, you’ll see a series of icons showing the TV inputs. SelectRemote Access .
- ChooseRemote PC .
- You’ll see a large window labeledConnect to Remote PC . You’re asked to enter your PC’s credentials. To create a new PC profile, select theUser icon located to the right of the PC/Profile box to launch theUser Profiles window.
- SelectAdd to create a new profile.
- Find your IP address in Windows . You’re looking for the local IPv4 address, which you can find throughSettings > Network & internet > Properties .
- Enable remote access on your computer . The quickest way to do this in Windows 11 is to search from the taskbar: Typeremote desktop settings , pressEnter , then toggleRemote Desktop on.
It already should be, but while you’re on this screen, make sure theNetwork Level Authentication check box is filled.
10. Return to your TV and make sure you’re in theUser Profiles window. Use the connected keyboard to enter your PC’s IP address in the corresponding box.
- Enter the username you use to log in to your PC. Then, using the remote control, selectSave .
- You’ll see your new profile listed in theUser Profiles window. SelectClose to exit.
- Back in theConnect to Remote PC window, you’ll see your newly created profile listed next toPC/Profile . Select theprofile name , and this auto-populates the username box.
- Next, select thePassword box and enter the password you use to log in to your PC.
You canchange your Windows password if you need to. - SelectConnect below the form to initiate the connection.
You may see a pop-up notification warning that the identity of the remote PC cannot be verified. SelectYes if you wish to continue. - After a moment, you’ll see your PC’s desktop on your TV. Using the keyboard and mouse connected to the TV, you can use the PC as usual.
When you’re ready to close the remote session, selectHome on the remote control, and chooseDisconnect .
You can alsoconnect a Samsung mobile device to a TV using mirroring, casting, and Samsung Smart View apps. Check the device software or user manual to see if your device supports these features.
